Dr. Michael Maru did his postgraduate training at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom, obtaining Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in General Surgery then Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) in Trauma & Orthopaedics (FRCS Tr & Orth) in 2010.

He attended a fellowship in sports injuries, joint replacements and joint revisions at Golden Jubilee Hospital, Glasgow, UK. He is fully registered as a specialist by the General Medical Council (GMC) of United Kingdom.

He is an Honorary Lecturer, Dept of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Nairobi. Dr Maru is actively involved in training of orthopaedic residents, University of Nairobi. He is passionate about teaching and the practice of orthopaedic surgery.

He is also a keen footballer!
